Faculty Share Classroom Tactics & Research
On Thursday, faculty from Northwestern, Purdue University, DePaul University, Aurora University, Ferris State University, Loyola University and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater made research presentations to their peers. DePaul University was the host of the session. The group discussed classroom strategies to encourage career success, international marketing examples and other tactics for improving upon marketing curriculum.
After the presentations, the first annual Racom IMC Roundtable Best Paper Award was selected at the Keynote Dinner at Berghoff Restaurant. Professor Behice Ilhan from Purdue University received the Best Paper Award for her paper "We Patch: Transmedia Consumption Experience in Contemporary IMC". Following the award presentation was the keynote for the evening, Dr. Owen Youngman of Northwestern University who shared about "MOOCs and the Future, the Future of MOOCs". Professionals Share the Current State of IMC
Transitioning into the second day of presentations, the group convened at our host, Edelman Headquarters in the Aon Center. The day began with a presentation of the recent research conducted at The Medill IMC Spiegel Research Center at Northwestern University made by Tom Collinger and Edward Malthouse.
Following this was the full day of practitioner presentations (read bios here). This is an opportunity for the attendees to hear about marketing trends straight from the source. Peter Dublin of Adobe presented about "The Marketers Challenge: Perspectives from the Front Line". He was followed by a presentation regarding "The Evolution of Earned Media" from a Public Relations perspective by Kristie Heins Fox of Edelman Chicago. Alex Menocal from Creata gave examples of "Social Media that Works" and gave examples of some brands that are using Social Media as an extension of the brand experience through gaming.
During the afternoon, Jennifer Wesley of Google presented how they are "Reimagining Marketing". Wrapping up the afternoon was Jerry DiTripani who discussed "Global IMC at Amway". Below Jerry and Jennifer discuss the takeaways they hope the audience got from their presentations as well as their advice for the next generation of marketers.
